Applying Action Learning to Staff Selection

Recruiting and selecting the right people are essential to the successful development of teams and the organizations. However, the process is costly both in terms of time and resources and it is therefore critical that the right candidate is appointed first time.

This practical one-day selection workshop will provide individuals with guidance in the skills and techniques essential to conducting successful selection interviews through Action Learning.



What makes Action Learning an effective tool for staff selection?

Action Learning allows members to demonstrate their reflective and systems thinking throughout the process. Members are required to ask insightful questions to inspire the whole group when tackling a real challenge. By applying Action Lerning to staff selection, interviewers can assess candidates’ capability of self-reflection, teamwork, communication, problem solving, leadership, creativity, and much more. Incorporating job competencies that are essential to the job into the process can also be a great challenge for the candidates to show their talent right on the spot.

This workshop covers the concepts and practical elements of Action Learning. Participants will have an opportunity to experience Action Learning as a member, problem-presenter and/or as a coach.

  • History and background of Action Learning
  • Power of Action Learning
  • 2 Ground Rules of Action Learning
  • 6 components of Action Learning

2. Conducting Interview with Action Learning
  • Applying Competency Models to  Action Learning
  • Briefing and instructions to candidates
  • Observing and evaluating candidates’ performance
  • Action Learning Coaching demonstration and feedback
  • Action Learning Practice – coaching, observation and feedback

In-house recruitment specialist, HR professionals, manager, recruitment agents and anyone involved in staff selection / recruitment interviewing will find this workshop valuable.  



Certificate of Completion

Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate issued by WIAL (Hong Kong).

Methodology

The workshops will demonstrate the concepts of Action Learning from the perspective of an Action Learning Coach and is designed to provide for hands-on experience in Action Learning Coaching for conducting selection interviews.
